Jewel asked:
My husband and I rescued a cat off the streets on a wet and cold night in mid-March, discovered a couple of weeks later that she was pregnant. She had the babies yesterday, and we want to give them “milk names” (names given to kittens until they have a new home or their personalities show better).
I like unique names, but need non-gender-specific (not old enough to tell yet). The mother is a black, white, and red tabby cat named Camoflauge (Cami for short), and I also have a Bengal cat named Sybil (a rescue purebred).
So, there are four of them.
Kitten 1: Black with grey tabby on the front legs, and a patch of brown near the right eye.
Kitten 2: Black and white; pure white belly and legs, with black on the back in splotches, and some on the face.
Kitten 3: Pure red tabby. This one seems to be the smallest.
Kitten 4: All black, except a little patch of brown or red tabby on the forehead. This one is the biggest.
Ideas?
I don’t mean “milk names” as in names synonymous with milk. As I said above, milk names are names given to kittens soon after they are born, so that they have a name (and aren’t called “that red tabby”; “the black and white spotted,” “the run,” etc) until a) their personalities show better, and a better name that fits them can be decided, or b) they go to a new home and the new family can name them.
In our case, these are the names they will go by for the first 10 weeks of their life, and then they will be fixed and given their first shots before going to a (hopefully) forever home.
