How much does it cost to neuter my feline friend?

TheBear™ (VIP™) asked:

I just got a cat… she’s pregnant by the way, so I’m planning to neuter her after she gives birth (and I’m intending to give them away too since I don’t have much time and room for more cats) as I let her play around my house compound (and sometimes goes out from the gate) freely.

What bothers me is that there are a lot of other alley cats around here and I don’t want her to be the ’star’ attraction for these strays…

Just wondering how much is it to neuter a cat and where is the place to do it? What are the procedures involved? I’m very new to this and I would appreciate good and detailed responses…

Thanks!

Oh yeah, she’s been taking up a lot of my time and it helps to divert my attention from Y/A which is good… LOL
*place as in ‘best place’… pet services like the one in Ikano? or if I were to send to an ordinary vet clinic… what’s the usual rate for neutering my cat?
** okay, my bad… its a female so the correct term should be ’spaying’ instead of neutering, right? LOL
I read at the SPCA website that its at RM 70… so I guess I’ve found my answer somewhat… looking for more opinions :-) Gosh, Bean! You remember!!!

LOL, Rusty the squirrel is a grumpy little guy now, reminds me of ‘Happy Tree Friends’… LOL

Twiggy, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the information. Its definitely an alternative for me (plus the contacts and address)… I WONT declaw my *ahem* kitty :-)… I’ve yet to given her any names yet, just calling her ‘MEAO’ as in the way Thais call cats. My neighbor calls her ‘Puteh’, cos’ she’s white :-)

How much canned cat food should I feed my cats?

Vanessa asked:

I have two cats. One is a year old, the other seems to be two.

I was wondering how much cat food they should get a day. (It is canned cat food)
I understand how the weight thing should work, but until I can find a accurate scale I’ve gotta go by holding-the-cat-and-guessing.
We had dry food, I don’t know if we’ll get it. Besides, I didn’t ask about what wet food causes, I asked about how much they should be getting.

How can I put my cat on a diet when my roommates cats are seniors and underweight?

jcab82 asked:

My cat is about 2 years old, and used to be so gorgeous and hyper and all over the place. Since I got her fixed, she lays around and just eats, all day long. I had her on a diet until I moved in with my current roommate. I was feeding her one cup a day and she was doing well, loosing weight. But now my roommate’s cats are 13 and 14 years old, and they’re underweight. I can not find a way to limit her eating, and I can’t put her on a weight control formula because of the other cats. Any ideas?

How long will it take to get rid of Feline Chin Acne?

Kittygonecrazy asked:

My cat was diagnosed with feline chin acne. I’ve been washing her chin for the past 3 days with a benzol peroxide shampoo I got from the vet, but it doesn’t seem to be getting much better yet. How long can I expect to have to do this before it clears? And yes I’ve switched her bowls to glass ones. she’s an indoor cat as well

Hemolytic anemia in a cat?

Torie asked:

My bengal cat was diagnosed as having hemolytic anemia and was treated with prednisone. His johndus has gone away, he has been eating good, and feels much better. But the vet said that it was a reoccurring issue and that we would have to keep a close eye on him. So does that mean every time that his symptoms come back that he will be put back on prednisone? Is there anything that I can do to keep it under control. I am just really worried about him he lost lots of weight and I am just scared that if this comes back over and over he will never get to be a normal cat. Does anyone elses cat have hemolytic anemia and how do you deal with it?

My Sweety has an eye infection caused by an Influenza Virus. What more can I do to make him feel better?

Jess asked:

My cat, Bootoo has an eye infection caused by an Influenza virus. His eye is pink and swollen, and with syptoms similar to pink eye, but it’s not. This morning I dabbed a small amount of Robottussin (cough syrup) on his nose, as directed by my mother, so he would lick it off. It has helped take down some sweeling and he’s a little more active than he was before. We’re going to find some baby asprin or liquid motrin to give him, since cats can metabolise them.
He’s been following his normal routines, and has been acting quite silly as usual (He’s a bengal) but he is still very miserable. What more can I do to make him feel better that might also help his infection? (>*.^<)
Thanks for your help. I'm not asking for treatments though, just something kind of to the equivelent of chicken soup for humans when you are sick, you know. Something to make him feel better while he waits for the virus to leave his system. : )
Please-no treatment Ideas. Motrin won't kill cats. Tylenol however will. PLEASE.Both my parents have had several cats and lots of experience. We know what we're doing with the treatment. I'm only asking for Ideas to make him more comfortable. :)

How can I help my cat adjust to the new cats?

ALMOSTBLIND2007 asked:

4 months ago I adopted 2 cats from the local animal rescue and the cat that has lived here for about 4 years has still not adjusted to these 2 new cats or the 2 addtional ones I adopted 2 months ago. The first cat took refuge downstairs in my rec-room on the coach and will only leave that spot to eat and use the litter box(usually) sometimes I find pee/poop on the coach. I have tried everything from keeping them separated to keeping them in the same room. When any of the 4 new cats(2 are still kittens) go near her she just screams bloody murder. Will she ever adjust or should I consider something else?

Introducing new cats when moving into a new home that neither pet owner has lived in before?

concretebrunette asked:

Okay, I have a cat, and my boyfriend has one. In the future we plan on moving into an apartment together, instead of me moving into his house or him moving into mine. So we have a unique cat situation. We won’t be introducing cats to a house that already has cats. So not only will we have the trauma of a new house, but throw in a new cat as well. Neither of them will have the “home field” advantage. How difficult will this be?
