Susan C asked:

Der Trompeter von Säckingen, Joseph Viktor von Scheffel, 1854 - Hiddigeigei is a sable tom featured in this popular poem. There is also a restaurant by this name. But how do you pronounce it?

  1. Sounds German. This is how you pronounce it if it is:

    hide’-dikch-eye-kchi (long i at end)
g’s are pronounced much like a k and ch together, but don’t stress it too hard. There should be a hint of phlegm, not a whole throat-full.
