Giselle Lynn Cross asked:

Hi, i am going to be a future savannah cat breeder..lol i hope.
well anyways. I am purchasing a male serval cat and a female bengal cat. If i breed these 2 cats together wont their off spring be F1 savannah kittens? and if so dont u breed the adults once a year and the second time i breed them they will still be f1 kittens…right? or as u breed them do they go from f1 to f2 to f3 then so on and so on until f5? or are the kittens bred from the serval and Bengal always f1 offsring..? that is what i though but when i sell the kittens i dont want to be ripping the customers off or anything. lol but thankyou so much for your help. =] and also how many times can i breed these 2 cats together until they can no longer breed anymore…like how many litters will the female bengal produce before she becomes unfertile or whatever the word is. =] thanks again.

  1. Do you really think strangers on the internet are who you should be asking? If you truly want to be a Savannah breeder then find an established breeder and learn from them. I highly doubt you’re going to find anyone knowledgeable of such a new breed of cat on Yahoo! Answers.

Better yet, though. How about spending your time instead at a local shelter finding homes for all the unwanted cats and kittens? That won’t make you money but it’ll certainly be more rewarding.

  2. This is very specialist breeding policy and if you want to sell correctly pedigreed cats then you need to get it 100% right so this is not really the right place to ask these questions.

Get in touch with the Savannah Cat Club
and speak with the Secretary or another Officer of the Club.

All power to you, for wanting to do it right.

  3. Fantastic. An amateur wanting to add to feline overpopulation!

  4. You really need to have a mentor to help you through this.. Breeding is just not that plain and simple and by having a mentor it will really help you. I do know most breeders want you to show first and have strict contracts. They want what is best for their breed.

I would suggest going to a local TICA cat show and talk to the breeders. To find a show near you go to

    Best of Luck

  5. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Do not breed your cats. The shelters do not need anymore homeless cats/kittens. Not only is it hard on Mom, but overbreeding could lead to health problems for the kittens. I would highly reccommend visting or volunteering at an animal shelter to witness what breeding can lead to. Please save Mom’s life, and the kitten’s lives, and don’t breed.

  6. I’m sorry but it’s clear you know next to nothing about breeding. We are not here to promote breeding of cats which no doubt you want to do for money.
Cats do not need to breed. Find other ways of making money. Cause if you are going to do it properly you will find you don’t just get money, you get complications as any professional breeder will tell you, plus you don’t just breed her to the max, that’s just senseless, stupid and very short-sighted.

Leave the breeding to the professionals.

As a pet owner, you can add to the overpopulation problem or help end it. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that if you find a home for each of your pet’s offspring you avoid adding to the number of homeless pets. Actually, you’ve only eliminated potential homes for other waiting puppies and kittens. Only so many responsible, caring homes exist, and finding a home for one of your pet’s offspring inevitably dooms some other cat or dog.

As ANY professional breeder weill tell you, they DON’T make money. It costs them to do this.

You may want to think some more on another money plan, this isn’t it.
