How do I block one of my cats from getting out the cat door while still allowing the others out?

tabkat21 asked:

I have two adult cats that are indoor/outdoor cats. I have adopted another kitten but do not what him going outside, he is too young. I feel bad locking the two adult cats up inside. Is there any way to allow them out while still keeping the little one inside? (The adult cats will not wear collar’s, they keep losing them.)

What is wrong with my cat?

i_rock_my_knee_high_socks asked:

He has been to the vet twice in the past month for a URI, given clavamox twice and some eydrops. He has really runny eyes, and is overall lazy. Sneezy at times. He isn’t usually this lazy. His breed of cat is very playful, and my kitten tries to play, and he wont. He hasn’t been eating as much either. I’m worried about him, but am also going broke going to the vet. Any suggestions? i still have Clavamox, but it seems to not be helping.
The vet diagnosed him with an Upper Respritory(sp?) Infection. It just is NOT going away. I will ask about testing for the FIV. Thanks for the advise.
My cat is a Sphynx and doesn’t have a coat to wash. He is bathed twice weekly, so its nothing on his skin. I doubt it’s his allergies. He got the URI from my other Sphynx that when I brought her home from the breeder. She had it first, he contracted it. His just isn’t going away.

I would like to get a kitten for my GF for her b-day. She has been aa catowner in the past, but I know nothing of cats. Can you recommend a cat that does not shed much, is not too expensive to care for, and a typical breed that is playful?

Thank you!

Is a tortie (tortoiseshell) cat an actual specific breed? Or just a coloring?

lily asked:

I only ask this because I have never seen torties on a breed chart at the vet’s or in animal shelters. If torties are just a color pattern of a certain breed, which one is it?

I personally think my tortie looks to be a combination of a Siamese and a Korat.
I also ask this as my shorthaired tortie has a longhaired completely black kitten.

Kittens born! Who wants to give them milk names?

Jewel asked:

My husband and I rescued a cat off the streets on a wet and cold night in mid-March, discovered a couple of weeks later that she was pregnant. She had the babies yesterday, and we want to give them “milk names” (names given to kittens until they have a new home or their personalities show better).

I like unique names, but need non-gender-specific (not old enough to tell yet). The mother is a black, white, and red tabby cat named Camoflauge (Cami for short), and I also have a Bengal cat named Sybil (a rescue purebred).

So, there are four of them.

Kitten 1: Black with grey tabby on the front legs, and a patch of brown near the right eye.
Kitten 2: Black and white; pure white belly and legs, with black on the back in splotches, and some on the face.
Kitten 3: Pure red tabby. This one seems to be the smallest.
Kitten 4: All black, except a little patch of brown or red tabby on the forehead. This one is the biggest.

Ideas?
I don’t mean “milk names” as in names synonymous with milk. As I said above, milk names are names given to kittens soon after they are born, so that they have a name (and aren’t called “that red tabby”; “the black and white spotted,” “the run,” etc) until a) their personalities show better, and a better name that fits them can be decided, or b) they go to a new home and the new family can name them.

In our case, these are the names they will go by for the first 10 weeks of their life, and then they will be fixed and given their first shots before going to a (hopefully) forever home.

How to tell how big cat will be?

animal_mother asked:

Is there any way to tell how much more growing my kitten will do? With dogs you can guesstimate by breed and size of paws, etc. He is about 6 months old and weighs 8 pounds. His paws still look pretty meaty though, like he’s gonna be a big cat. 8 pounds on him doesn’t look overweight at all .
